What people say about me

I love what I do and the truly amazing and talented people I get to work with. Some of them have said really nice things about me for which I’m hugely humbled and eternally grateful. Thanks all!

Simon is well known in the print and production industry in Europe, US and Asia.

We had a couple of projects that needed an experienced and well connected person to manage them and get the projects implemented successfully. Simon worked directly with Ralph Lauren on a new imprint technique and successfully implemented it. Simon has worked with us at YR to refine our Nordstrom implementations across the US market. We also worked with Simon during his time at Roland where he was instrumental in opening doors for us.

As well as being professional, diligent and always seeing the bigger picture, Simon is very good to work with and his friendly manner puts everyone at ease. Simon has a vision for the on-demand industry and shares a passion with YR in making that happen. I look forward to working with Simon on future projects. Highly recommended.

I’ve worked with Simon on a range of interim, project assignments over many years.

His most recent project for me was the analysis of the opportunity for developing digital personalisation and decoration solutions for emerging retail and consumer markets. I then tasked him with providing the business with a range of options on which we could address the market. He delivered his report in his usual straightforward style – concise, well researched and argued and then provided us with several practical approaches and strategies to achieving the identified goals. He then went on as an interim to execute the plan and build the relationships, tools and programs we needed to be successful in this new market.

In addition, I’ve also used him for his imaging industry technical ability, marketing and communications skills in developing brand messaging, product launches and events management – all of which have been delivered to the highest standard without a fuss.

He’s practical, intelligent, works well with everybody. Just tell him what you want to do and he’ll get it done.

Wilco, aka Simon Wilcox, is someone with whom I’ve had quite a few professional engagements over many years. I’ve known him in his capacity as an employed functional manager working for my company. I’ve engaged him to wrestle with projects on a freelance basis. I’ve been attached at the periphery to projects he’s run for others. It was always a very good experience.

I’ve no hesitation in selling you Simon Wilcox on the basis he’ll have talents that mesh with the needs of most businesses whatever the state of their development or gestation.

Here’s why:

Projects, briefs, challenges, that just invite blank looks from the person sat across the desk opposite you will meet with understanding and engagement if you’re lucky enough to have Wilco sat in the interview chair. He has huge and varied experience and can associate it with resources in a massive world-wide contact network of people he’s impressed before to bring solutions to the table. ‘Hits the ground running’ is not an appropriate cliche to sharpen this point further. Brief Wilco and he’s off and flying. Technical, creative, next-generation marketing tactics, Wilco gets it done.

Simon Wilcox is super-resourceful. He has a real talent for achieving with £10 what an expensive team eventually needs £100 to execute. Simon knows and if he doesn’t he has a faculty for learning quickly. He brings the loose ends of things together and, before you know it, you have a makings of a solution to consider. Simon sometimes crosses the line and gets into the realms of invention. I’ll leave it to you to decide how you deal with IP arising when you engage Simon, just bear in mind that he’ll be prudent and frugal. As I say, he’s a super-resourceful individual.

I’ve known Simon bring a lot of dead fires back to life. Every company has got something down the dusty end of a lab or meeting room that just couldn’t seem to cross the finish line. Give it to Wilco to have a look at. Chances are, all that sunk costs will find a payday and you’ll have something new on your hands to take to your customers.

You can sit Simon at a desk among a team and see it grow. He’s a great bloke and really easy to get along with. People like him. People like working with him. He’s as capable of the sustaining activity that keeps the engine running as he is of the high wire stuff. Trust him with an interim project and it’ll be intact when he hands it back.

Enough from me. I recommend you get Simon Wilcox in front of you and decide for yourself whether he can further your fortunes. As I say, stuff that just draws blank looks and shoulder shrugs from others has always met with engagement and understanding from Wilco in my experience.

Give him a try.

We had the pleasure of having Simon work with us on a few different projects that successfully materialised in 2019. Creative, energetic and adaptable! Hope to have the chance to work together again soon.

I have no hesitation in recommending Simon and the unique skill set that he offers. I have worked with Simon on quite a few projects where his technical knowledge and can do attitude, without doubt, made the difference to the projects being a roaring success rather than a flop. The customers we dealt with where large corporate companies and very well-known brands, so the attention to detail and the punctuality that had to be exercised was key. Through the relationships that Simon has, it enabled us to pull on experts in different areas that were required. Along with the work ethic Simon lives by, you can’t miss the fun character that he is as well. I hope to work on many more projects with Simon in the future.

What an invaluable, capable and resourceful asset Simon is. I’ve never come across someone who is quite so effective in breaking down an overwhelming workload into actionable plans without being phased. A strategic thinker who sees big picture naturally, he is equally capable “knuckling down” and executing his plans with admiral drive. Simon is great with people, with a particular passion for helping businesses realise their potential (and if he can invent the odd thing along the way he’s ultra happy!).

Barbara Borgars

Simon is a first-class Marketing Manager: creative, inventive, dedicated and highly knowledgeable. His multitasking abilities are impressive, as are his technical skills and ability to adapt to the professional environment of the moment.

On a personal level, he is intelligent, articulate, sharp-witted, funny and a joy to have around – an all-round good egg!

Craig Foster

Simon lays out his vast knowledge in this field in a way easy for the client to understand and takes time to understand your needs and tailor his unbiased recommendations with a balanced pro/con list. Recommend highly if you are looking for a helping hand in this field.

Charles James

I have worked with Simon on and off for over 30 years. Simon is the sort of person you want by your side when you need creativity with hard core product marketing skills and vast experience. Be it plans, technology licensing, communications or creating value out of propositions, Simon has a unique way of making it all seem so easy. Great in front of clients and always a joy to work with.

Jeff DiToro

I had the good fortune to work with Simon on several projects over the years. Simon is an experienced professional who maintains a practical vision for technology integrations. In particular he understands the economic importance and methods for taking brick-n-mortar businesses into the digital realm.

Gary Boon

Simon is an astute strategy orientated marketing professional focussing on delivering results. I was always highly impressed with Simon’s vision and importantly his ability to articulate that vision to a wider and eclectic stakeholder audience, not something that is always easy to achieve. It would be a pleasure working alongside Simon again in the future.

Matt Dawson

Simon is a great guy to work with, his vast array of marketing skills and genuine business experience would be a huge asset to any company.

Dan Lathall

I highly recommend Simon. I had the pleasure of working with him for over a year and I enjoyed all of it. His ideas are fantastic his work ethic is perfect. Simon goes above and beyond with all of his projects. It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to work with him. Hopefully our paths cross in the future.

Flemming Bermann

Simon is a visionary, a big picture thinker, who has the drive, passion and experience to deliver a product strategy, by bringing researched and fully costed products to market within agreed budgetary and resource constraints.

Simon is also a great communicator, and uses his oral skills to effectively ‘sell’ his vision to those around him – whatever to the board or to the SMEs, who have to deliver the product or solution to market.

In the past Simon has also used his skills to great effect by bringing about business process changes, which was done with integrity, a friendly smile and an encouraging word.

Robin Heap

Working with Simon at Smoothwall Ltd was a pleasure, he has an inclusive management style that ensures all levels of the organisation are synchronised and striving to attain the same goals. Simon is strategically astute, able to identify, quantify and communicate the tactical measures required to achieve commercial success, and has an industrious and innovative work ethic. Above all else, Simon is prepared to make tough decisions on critical issues, and will always support them with detailed research and analysis.

Alex Sivewright

Simon is very creative and hardworking whilst maintaining an amiable, approachable work persona. Simon will always make time to help you irrespective of the task, he is Mr Extra-Mile.

Working with Simon was a thoroughly enjoyable experience on a professional and personal level.

Also, if you ask nicely, he happily tell you about his range of different axes.

Donna Jordon

It was a pleasure – and a productive one at that – to work with Simon. We worked together to coordinate our company’s brand presence in the US. This included trade show booth design, design and production of marketing and sales collateral materials and even the design of standard business cards. Admittedly, Simon was the design brain and I simply executed – or had executed by a local vendor – his vision but he was always clear in his vision, effective at communicating his vision and easy to work with to boot. If the business gods are willing, I would love the opportunity to work with Simon again in the future.

Joe Holdsworth

Working with Simon was one of those beneficial experiences of my career. Beyond being an intelligent, capable and experienced strategist and marketer, he has an uncanny ability to motivate, and an absolute willingness to roll his sleeves up to get the job done when needed.

I respect a manager skilled enough to carry out any task that he would expect of his own team, and I have yet to find one that Simon wasn’t more than competent with.

I find Simon to be a man of perspective and empathy, with a great sense of humour, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him.

Imran Chaudhry

Simon is a consummate professional: highly competent, an excellent communicator and always a pleasure to work with. I always knew that if Simon was involved on a project I would feel good about it due to his personal charisma. Although I was not involved in Marketing I saw the brand of Smoothwall go from “ok…” to “Wow!” in the time Simon was there. One of the true gems at Smoothwall.

Dr. Brian Bandey

I have worked closely with Simon for some years now; as he developed various marketing strategies (thought leadership, lead generating collateral, publicity, personal appearances at exhibitions etc.) derived from my technical legal research on e-Safety Law in respect of both Education and Business.

The matching of these two areas of endeavour is a challenging one – especially when addressing complex areas of the Law which are still in flux and translating them into the Marketing – Communications environment. But I am very happy to say that Simon’s abounding drive, energy, enthusiasm and creativity are more than up to the task (much more in fact).

He translates his patience, willingness to listen and very strong interpersonal skills through the prism of his considerable experience and expertise to produce results which are not only worthwhile, but work in the real world.

Many e-Safety practitioners have commented in glowing terms on the attractiveness, accessibility and downright usefulness of the work product we produced together.

A gentleman of significant probity, commercial savoir faire who is very, very easy to work with. It is a pleasure to recommend Simon Wilcox.

Marc Zundel

Simon provides discerning analysis of an organization’s product marketing needs.
This empowered one of my clients to challenge their whole approach to marketing their software solutions in the face of significant changes in the digital imaging industry and implement alternative strategies.

Whether briefing/selecting agencies or mentoring internal teams Simon is very “hands-on” ensuring delivery of objectives and strengthening of a company’s confidence in its route to market. He is uniquely competent at managing projects personally, seamlessly complementing an existing team or advising at Board/owner-occupier level.

Bringing clarity and commercial acumen to product marketing in the technology sectors is particularly challenging – whether providing Simon as an interim/consultant or permanent resource my recruitment reputation has always been enhanced by his performance.

David Long

I met and worked with Simon when we were both marketing consultants. What makes Simon stand out from the crowd is his exceptional ability to think creatively and respond quickly to challenges put his way.

His ‘can do’ work ethic and his knowledge of technology marketing will serve him well wherever he works. I look forward to working with Simon on future projects.

Peter Leonard

Simon is a marketing power-house, full of creativity, knowledge and enthusiasm. I very much enjoyed working as part of a marketing development team with him at 3M where he was instrumental in bringing to market a range of digital imaging hardware, software and material consumables, in such a way to guarantee long term success to the business.

If you’re looking for expertise, energy, creativity and good implementation skills, Simon Wilcox could well be your man.

Lloyd Cole

Simon has considerable expertise in all aspects of marketing and is an excellent all rounder. Both creative and logical he is capable of producing clearly thought out plans with the ability to successfully implement them. A positive asset to any team.

Phil Donoghue

I worked with Simon when he helped implement Roland Marketing and exhibition strategy across the U.K. Simon is creative and experienced in these areas and helped us to deliver excellent Marketing which drove our Sales growth through 2006/7 to new heights.

He is a very personable and open minded character who really enjoys his work and will always rise to challenges and overcome them.

Marc Willard

Simon worked for me developing the emerging large format print markets. His principal responsibilities were to provide technical product and marketing knowledge to end-users enabling them to profit from their investment in our printing solutions. He proved to be resourceful, adaptable and highly competent in the role and was a highly valued member our senior management team.
